hi there!
my name is micaela cabrera. i am a photographer and video editor based in the new york metropolitan area. i graduated from rutgers university - new brunswick in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and media studies. before this, i attended brookdale community college where i first chose to study computer science. after finding that comp sci didn't give fulfill my desire to work with and for people, i switched my major to communications with a focus in video production. my dream came true when i was accepted to be a multimedia intern for the american civil liberties union in 2019. the opportunity allowed me to combine my passions for helping others and for media. it made me realize that i am, in fact, able to use my media production and communications skills to impact people's lives positively. since then, i have been developing my skills in video, photo, audio, and writing to tell people's stories further and build community.
in my free time, i channel my creative side through other activities, including crocheting and painting. i'm also an avid gamer (mostly on pc!), a horror fanatic, and a huge animal lover -- i have four cats, one dog, and three fish tanks!
